Head of Indonesian equities, BNP Paribas Asset Management
Ali Yahdin Saugi is head of Indonesian equities at BNP Paribas Asset Management. He strongly believes that Indonesian companies are unique in emerging markets as they have a strong return on equity, which means their double digit earnings growth comes from good quality of earnings.
Previously, he worked for BNP Paribas Asset Management in Paris and in London. In Europe, Ali Yahdin was an analyst and a portfolio manager in the European Small Cap equities team. He understood how to recognize growth stocks evolving in good industries, and had healthy debates on investments ideas with its team members.
Back in Jakarta in 2011, Ali Yahdin joined the team as senior portfolio manager. Ali Yahdin was promoted Head of Indonesian equities in September 2012, and since then he has developed among the equity team. To him, taking investment decisions as a team is the best way to have high conviction and outperform over the long term.
Ali Yahdin has 6 years of investment experience, is a CFA charterholder and holds a Master of Finance of the Universiteit Antwerpen Management School in Belgium and Economic degree of the Universitas Pelita Harapan in Jakarta.
