Talking heads – China to deliver on growth in 2022

In early March, Chinese policymakers announced economic growth of around 5.5% would be targeted for 2022. Since then, a number of headwinds have led to doubts China’s GDP growth will reach 5%. In this podcast, we explain why we believe Chinese policymakers have both the intention and the means to counter factors potentially slowing growth in the world’s second-largest economy.

Listen to this Talking heads podcast with Chi Lo, senior economist for China, and chief market strategist Daniel Morris. Firstly, they review the issues causing concerns about prospects for growth of China’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2022. Then they discuss how policymakers in Beijing can deliver.

Formerly known as ‘Market weekly’, Talking heads brings investors the in-depth insights on topics that really matter to them, analysis of the world and markets through the lens of sustainability and more great conversations with investment experts.

Investing in emerging markets, or specialised or restricted sectors is likely to be subject to a higher-than-average volatility due to a high degree of concentration, greater uncertainty because less information is available, there is less liquidity or due to greater sensitivity to changes in market conditions (social, political and economic conditions).
